Check before you spread... News of the World

Each morning our key to the world comes through the door
More than often its just a comic, not much more
Don't take it too serious - not many do
Read between the lines and you'll find the truth

As the wise old sage Peter Weller pointed out, you've got to read between the lines if you want the truth. Do that with the latest round of the News of the World phone hacking scandal that's reached 10 Downing Street, and you'll see that there's much more to this story than meets the eye.

Here's a piece on that very subject I just did for The Listening Post. Scott Corben did most of the heavy lifting, interviewing Roy Greenslade and Dominic Ponsford, while I had the pleasure of talking to Chris Hedges. Andrew Whermer did the edit in record time. Our story begins in the second half of the show at 12:50
